Swiss Watch Explorer [beta]

a travel guide to Swiss watchmaking

Simple. Independent. Up-to-date.

Planet Swatch

Close to 7,000 watches are on display in this new museum opened in 2019.  It offers an incredible journey into the unique engineering prowess and creativity that made plastic cool, and saved the Swiss watch industry during the quartz crisis. You can combine the visit with the very cool Swatch "Drive Thru" boutique just outside.

Part of the "Cité du Temps", it shares the building with the the Omega Museum one floor above, making the visit even more worthwhile. Finally, it's all hosted in a brand new construction by renowned Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, worth checking out in its own right.

SWE rating: Excellent

SWE fun fact: it used to be that all near 7,000 watches were exactly on time... A nightmare for the staff, who had to change batteries and adjust all watches with DST. For sustainability reasons, it was later decided to leave all watches set at 10:10. Good for the planet, and perhaps even more so for the team!
