Le Locle, along with neighboring town La Chaux-de-Fonds, has been recognized by UNESCO for its watchmaking urban architecture. It should be no surprise then that it also hosts its own watch history museum. And although it is less famous than La Chaux-de-Fonds, and a bit harder to access, it is absolutely worth a visit if you love watchmaking history. 

The impressive exhibit spanning from astronomical clocks to deep immersion into contemporary watchmaking techniques is hosted in a beautiful 18th century mansion. Visitors have consistently been impressed at both the quality of the artefacts and the environment, including the lovely gardens. It is worth noting that the collection is very focused on clocks more than pocket or wrist watches. Fantastic automates are among the main highliths for many visitors. 

Conferences (in French) are also regularly organized, hosting key players of the watch industry, in an authentic and expert atmosphere.

• If possible, go on a nice day to be able to enjoy the beautiful gardens. 

• When in Le Locle, if you have time, you can take a stroll on the other side of town, especially Chemin des Tourelles, a scenic street home of Tissot, Vulcain and Minerva (now Montblanc) headquarters.
