Swiss Watch Explorer [beta]

a travel guide to Swiss watchmaking

Simple. Independent. Up-to-date.

Frédérique Constant Manufacture

Launched in 2019, this experience is located in a very interesting place for those keen to understand the Swiss watch industry behind the scenes: Plan-les-Ouates is a Geneva suburb that hosts some of the most important sites in Swiss watchmaking. Among others, it is where Patek Philippe has its manufacture, and where all Rolex bracelets and cases are made.

The Frédérique Constant tour also includes 2 other brands part of the same group (itself the property of Japan's Citizen), Alipna and Ateliers deMonaco. The visit is a great opportunity to understand how a watch production site works. While FC is not as prestigious as other brands offering a manufacture tour listed on this site, it will show you how things are made in a different, more affordable price segment.

SWE Rating: Very good

SWE tip: The site is located within short walking distance of the Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Piaget HQs, among others, as well as Rolex's bracelet and case-making site. It's worth taking a stroll around to get a sense of the atmosphere. The buildings are all very modern, perhaps far from the image of a Swiss watchmaker in his mountains, but highly represententive of the cutting edge technology and processes used in contemporary watchmaking.
