GPHG Cultural Mediation Program
The GPHG is a well known institution among watch enthusiasts. The acronym stands for Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, also known as the Oscars of watchmaking. Beyond the annual competition, the GPHG is run by a foundation that organizes various events promoting the world of Swiss watchmaking.
The Cultural Mediation Program consists in a series of exciting activities taking place in Geneva this fall. Below is an overview. Please refer to the GPHG website for full details and registration.

List of Activities
Exhibition: guided visit (50 min) covering the 90 nominated timepieces for the 2023 GPHG awards, an exhibit on the theme of "Hands & Tools" and watch diploma projects from Geneva arts school HEAD. Age: 15+ When? Tuesday to Friday: 12 pm; Saturday & Sunday: 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm. The visit is by default in French but English is possible on demand.
Watchmaking Workshop (60 min, in French): an introduction to watchmaking hosted by the Geneva School of Watchmaking. You will assemble watch components yourself. Age: 10+ When? Tuesday to Sunday: 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. English possible on demand (apart from Saturday).
Kids & Teens Workshop (90 min, in French): a workshop designed specifically for the younger generation, where experts will guide participants to dismantle and reassemble a working clock. Age: 8-15. When? Saturday, November 11 at 2 pm (sold out) and 4 pm (a dozen slots left at time of writing on Sept 23).

The cheapest watchmaking experience listed on this site is 300 CHF. While the others last longer, here they are entirely free, and still substantial (1h or 1.5h). Provided by recognized expert institutions, the quality is top notch. It's worth signing up for, and doing so fast!
As mentioned above, the key language here is French. The exhibition visit and watchmaking class can be done in English but on demand only. If you wish to do so, it's recommended to send an email to the address on the registration page once you've completed the registration form.
